ED drugs: The most honest list on the Internet

The causes of sexual problems can be manifold, but that is not the point now. In this article, I would like to introduce you to all effective (and at the end of the article also the ineffective) sex enhancer remedies available on the market. Because a sexual performance weakness can impair the quality of life lastingly.

However, first of all an important hint: sexual performance weakness is not to be taken lightly. Possibly a serious illness such as diabetes, arteriosclerosis, high blood pressure or a psychological problem is the reason for this. So before you take potency-enhancing drugs, please let a (specialist) physician examine you in detail.

Foreword to the list of ED drugs

Unfortunately there are also many fake products on the market

The Internet is one of mankind’s greatest inventions. But it also has a serious disadvantage: there is an incredible amount of half-knowledge and ignorance. An active substance whose alleged effect has been medically refuted is praised in the highest terms on other pages. With this list I would like to create an honest listing. Only products and active substances are listed whose effect has been medically proven in some way.

Of course it can be, that a product listed as effective helps person A wonderfully and does not work at all with person B. This effect can also be achieved with other medications. But I don’t want to recommend products whose effect has been refuted by tests. If I have forgotten a product, you are very welcome to send me an e-mail.

Prescription ED drugs

Caverject pulse

Caverject Impuls is from the Viagra manufacturer Pfizer. It is based on the active ingredient Alprostadil. This sexual enhancer is usually administered when other medicines in tablet form have no effect. It is injected directly into the erectile tissue by syringe.

Cialis ©

Cialis © works already after a quarter of an hour and lasts up to 24 hours. The underlying active ingredient is called tadalafil. Like Viagra, Tadalafil is a PDE-5 inhibitor, which promotes blood circulation in the penis. In addition to headaches, test subjects complained of heartburn and dizziness as side effects. In addition to the regular product for the irregular taking, there is also “Cialis © Once a Day”, currently the only sexual enhancer on the market for daily intake.

Levitra is a German product from Bayer HealthCare, which like Cialis © and Viagra © is a PDE-5 inhibitor. However, the drug used here is vardenafil. This promotes blood circulation in the penis. Side effects occurred when only short-term and were similar to competing products (i.e. headaches, facial flushing or dizziness). The effect lasts up to 12 hours and is not affected by the consumption of alcohol. For an erection to occur, sexual arousal must be present. Levitra is available as normal tablets and as fused tablets. Meltable tablets are especially for people who have problems swallowing tablets.

MUSE 250 micrograms

Just like Caverject Impuls, MUSE 250 microgram is based on the active ingredient Alprostadil and is also injected directly into the erectile tissue. Unfortunately, hardening and lump formation in the erectile tissue, as well as general pain in the penis, are currently known side effects.

Spedra is a product of the Berlin pharmaceutical company Berlin-Chemie AG. It is still a very young product and has only been available in stores since 2014. It is based on the active ingredient Avanafil, a PDE-5 inhibitor. Headaches, reddening of the skin and nasal congestion are the most common side effects. The effect starts after about 30 minutes and lasts up to 6 hours.

Viagra ©

The probably best known and oldest sexual enhancer in the world works with the drug sildenafil. Viagra © is available only on prescription from doctors and should only be purchased in (inpatient) pharmacies due to the large number of counterfeit drugs (number 1 on the worldwide list of counterfeit drugs). The success rate is about 82%, the effect starts within 30 minutes and lasts up to 4 hours. Viagra is a PDE-5 inhibitor, has a vasodilator effect and has no effect on the sensation of pleasure. The most common side effect is headache.

Legal generics as an alternative

L-Arginine is an amino acid that is responsible for the formation of nitric oxide (NO) in the blood vessels. Nitric oxide is an important protective factor for our blood vessels not only in the penis but in the whole body. L-Arginine is said to help the blood vessels dilate and thus improve blood circulation.

This effect is not only for blood circulation-related erection problems quite practical but also for high blood pressure. L-Arginine is mainly contained in fish and nuts but is also available as special preparations in many online shops for food supplements to buy cheap.

Ginseng root is an ancient Asian remedy that has been used for over 1,000 years. I have long considered in which category I put this active ingredient. Many renowned magazines like “Die Welt”, “Focus” and also “Wikipedia” write about the potency-promoting effect of the root. At the same time, however, it is also said that the effect is not 100% proven and could therefore perhaps be a “placebo effect”. A test with 60 men suffering from impotence showed that 60% of the ginseng test subjects were highly satisfied with the effect.

In my opinion, it is, therefore, worth a try, but 100% efficacy should not be expected.

Non-effective ED drugs / active ingredients

Leath to say that there are also a number of products and active substances whose efficacy could unfortunately not be proven in tests and studies. I would also like to inform you about this in order to avoid any misbuying on your part.

Maca / Maca powder / Maca capsules

Maca is promoted in many articles on the web as a miracle cure for many things. The “Das Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung” (Federal Institute for Risk Assessment), BfR for short, therefore took a closer look at Maca in 2007 and came to the conclusion: the effectiveness of Maca for increasing sexual performance, among other things, could not be proven.

Bockshorn clover seed

Fenugreek seeds are successfully used for several symptoms. However, the Internet also frequently provides information about the sexual performance-enhancing effect of these seeds. It seems that this statement comes exclusively from a not scientifically founded single study. Therefore a positive effect on the sexual performance by fenugreek seeds is to be excluded rather.

Saffron, the most expensive spice in the world, to increase sexual performance? Many spice sellers would certainly be pleased with this idea, but it is not so. Stanford University” conducted a study with 346 men suffering from sexual performance disorder. The result: effectiveness of saffron could not be proven.

“These findings do not support a beneficial effect of saffron administration in men with ED.”

ED drugs & active substances prohibited in Germany

Many sexual enhancers are not permitted in Germany for good reasons and are therefore banned. Acquisition and trade are punishable by law. In the worst case the consumption can lead to your own death, so please do not put your health at risk and buy and consume these products.

ED drugs about whose effectiveness I couldn’t find anything

In addition to the demonstrably ineffective sexual enhancers, there are also products whose efficacy I could not find anything concrete about. By this I mean products that promise an increase in sexual performance, but I could not find any evidence in the form of studies or tests by well-known providers such as Oeko-Test or Stiftung Warentest or similar. (Which doesn’t mean that the products don’t work…I just couldn’t find anything concrete about it) If you know about one of the following products I would be very happy if you let me know!

  • androxan600® / androxan600® forte / androxan600® fertile / androxan600® liquid
  • Arginmax
  • libidoxin ®
  • Maxatin
  • Potenzan
  • Prelox ®
  • Vigrax
  • Zytax

These products are mainly based on the active ingredient L-Arginine. Before you spend a lot of money on products that only contain a proportion of L-arginine, I recommend that you use pure L-arginine from fitness shops. Here the price is often much cheaper.

Vimax uses a number of healthy raw materials such as Ginko Biloba leaf powder, Panax ginseng, Cayenne pepper, hawthorn extract, Tribulus Terrestris and saw palmetto. In my opinion, it is doubtful whether a sexual performance-enhancing effect can be achieved.

Cefagil is primarily a homeopathic sexual enhancer to increase sexual desire. The active ingredient Turnera diffusa is primarily intended to promote blood circulation and thus increase the pleasure sensation of men (but also women). According to a study with 684 participants, the symptoms of sexual disorders decreased significantly after only four weeks of use. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find this study anywhere, so this product is currently still in the category “sexual enhancers whose effectiveness I couldn’t find anything about”.

sexual performance enhancing food

Again and again one reads on relevant Blogs & Forums also over alleged sexual performance increasing food. But what is actually behind it? Since this topic is a little more extensive I have written my own article about it: sexual performance enhancing foods

A conclusion on freely available ED drugs

OEKO-Test subjected several prescription and over-the-counter products to the test and came to a devastating result:

Help is only available on prescription: While the efficacy of most prescription drugs has been proven, the preparations from the sex shop are at best a gag because there is a lack of evidence of benefit.“.

Nutritional, which potency agents are only effective and how many are not, right? But actually also almost logical: a prescription-free, effective product against erectile dysfunction would be a worldwide bestseller. It would be a medical sensation which unfortunately is not (yet) possible. If you suffer from a potency disorder, you should consult a specialist and find the right medication for you (on prescription).
